Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Practitioner – Pearl van der Straaten

Our Lymphatic System is the bodies waste disposal system and its first line of defence against infection. This is one of the only systems in the body that does not have a pump and it relies on the movement of our muscles to “pump” the lymphatic fluid around our body.

A Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a very light and gentle treatment that follows a set sequence following the lymph channels around the body and into the cisterna chyli, or the” drain” of the lymphatic system.  It can assist the body in treatment of lymphedema, fluid retention, chronic fatigue or lethargy,  stress, neurological disorders, recovery from colds and other illnesses (please note it is not recommended to have a Lymphatic Drainage Massage during the acute phase of infection), and detoxing and cleansing the body.

It is important to note that because a Lymphatic Drainage Massage works by flushing toxins and waste products though the body it is very important to drink lots of water both before and after your treatment to support your body in the effective and efficient elimination of these waste products.
